So many miles - almost home

Dear bloggers,

Thank you for all your lovely messages and kind words whilst i have been away. I packed more into the past five weeks than I have into the last year! And as I limp my way through Singapore airport I think of the thousands of kilometers Francesco and I did on Australian roads inhaling the raw beauty of the landscape and committing it to memory forever.

I took my (new) Italian husband on a road trip and he too fell in love with the wild Australian aesthetic, open spaces and endless skies. We saw kangaroos and wild pigs, giant lizards and pink and grey galahs and red roads that stretched on forever.

My darling even requested vegemite in the mornings..

As we said good by to my parents and friends at the airport I couldn't hold back the tears. I sobbed the whole way to Singapore feeling as though I have been torn in two. Tired and emotional would be an understatement!

I look forward to returning to blogland shortly when the haze lifts and I sleep for a couple of days. For now a couple of warm croissants and a big coffee.

I missed you all..Carla xx

What a week and what a result! Standing ovation to the people of Egypt who with a lot of heart, belief and resistance overthrew a dictator. I watched with bated breath the action from Egypt and marvelled at the photos of people wearing saucepans, milk crates and a broken door as helmuts. Courageously they dug up the cobblestones from the streets and went into battle against an army armed with guns and tanks. Incredible!

Yesterday in Paris the people of Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria celebrated along rue du renard. I was lucky enough to grab a couple of pictures on my iphone (hipstamatic of course) and share in their joy.

Today I will join many thousands of Italian women all around the world who will protest againt Berlusconi. Wouldn't it be marvellous if we could have the same effect as the Egyptians and the Tunisiens?..

Asia??

When I was taken this pic it looked like Italy and then when I checked the screen Hipstamatic took me to Asia!  I love that about photography, reality isn't always the most important thing. Carla xx  ps taken in Giovinazzo..

Afternoon Light - Paris

Yesterday I had a day I would rather forget.Insurmountable French bureacracy. I always thought Italy would win the  'bureacracy games' but it seems that they are far too sweet and eager to please. Our French friends beat them hands down. In Italy there is always away around everything and there is always someone willing to help. In France the rules are rigid if you don't tick all the boxes you are never getting from A to B.

So I may remain permanently on A if I don't find another reserve of energy.

On the way home there was an incredible light, I ate a nutella crepe, snapped the beauty of Paris and filed my day under 'to forget'. Carla x
