TB at this stage will only be useful to a few people.

IT's really down the road when SSDs get bigger and cheaper and when TB is put into a MBA (without any other ports) that it will matter much more.

Right now? It's ahead of its time especially if there is a tb tax involved.

NICEEEE! I can't wait to see what they have in store for 2007 :D

I wonder if he means calander year 07 or FY 07. If it's FY 07 we could see some of those products in the next three months :)

I happened to notice that one of my bushes just got its flowers, so i figured I would play around with the tripod, cable release, and the landscape lighting.

I should hope that nobody performs CPR should someone collapse, since Macdonalds staff aren't medically trained.

No fear of that ever happening either, in the Litigious States of America.

This post makes zero sense, and neither did your original claims.

Care to elaborate? I realize I haven't had my coffee yet but makes sense on this end.

    Never been suspended for non-payment.
Dropped a $10/month third line from plan ~ 6 months ago.

Although, now that I'm waking up more, I did lower my rate plan as well a few months ago. The 2 of us weren't using 1400 minutes anymore, so we went down to 550. This must be the cause of it.

As for the remark about big cities, everyone up here around NYC knows that Verizon takes pride in making sure there are no dead spots in their home area. Report one, and they'll fix it. They have literally thousands of mini cells on buildings downtown.

KDarling, I was wondering what these mini cells look like on buildings...

I had to turn off all location services, ect to squeek through the 8 hour day and plug it in after work at under 10%. Hope this update fixes the battery drain issue!

I am surrounded by windows, wonderful views, and don't want to close all my blinds and and be in the dark so that I can use my awesome reflective computer monitor. I appreciate that the glass may be wonderful for some, but understand that it is awful for others. The option for a matte screen is logical. Open your mind, respect the views of others, and stop being a tool.

Me too. Large windows, high ceilings. It's the reason I'm still using a PowerMac G5, but the lack of support(for non-intel) and really no other options, I've decided to clean out a closet and will be using the iMac in there. Kinda pathetic, but Apple leaves me no choice.

I mentioned this in the last thread, but I just picked up some of these leather covers for my Moleskine's and they're pretty sweet. Made by Inkleaf Leather (http://www.etsy.com/shop/InkleafLeather?ga_search_query=inkleaf+leather&ga_search_type=seller_usernames) on Etsy if anyone cares.

Really like the look of those! But I can't afford to get them now :(

Safe to say at this point we will have to wait. Man, I had that upgrade waiting. But then again, what's another three months to wait from the usual release date?

Indeed on first read, I'd say that he presents a convincing argument. I'll go along with his diagnosis that there's no hole that could open you up to arbitrary code execution. If that's your definition of a security hole, then it follows that there's no security hole there. But it's still leaving you open the possibility that the operating system may crash for no apparent reason, causing you to lose any unsaved work.

Lost work... Depending on how productive you are, that can easily result in monetary damage being done.

As I posted previously, that leaves you in no worse a situation than you always are if you're running a desktop computer without a UPS. But I think that it still warrants attention.

At best it still qualifies as an inconvenience, because the savvy user who saves her work regularly will only have lost 5 or 6 minutes of productivity including the reboot. At worst, it can result in hours of lost work for the user who doesn't understand the "save your work" mantra -- especially if we're talking about somebody who's protected by a battery backup and doesn't think that unexpected reboots should be possible on such an inherently stable operating system.

And it's undoubtedly a bug inside Apple's software that's causing this problem, therefore it is absolutely appropriate that Apple should be expected to fix it. I appreciate anybody's effort to bring such bugs to light, because that increases the probability that Apple will find out about it and fix it.

I'm saying Apple shouldn't fix it, I'm merely pointing out that many people are reacting to the MOKB as a wealth of major security flaws.
This is a bug, an annoying bug that should be fixed, but that's very different from a security flaw in which a crash can be used to inject malicious code. MOKB's author LMH was wrong about this particular instance and he did not do the research required of a security professional in this particular problem.

Again, don't dismiss the MOKB or the warnings from Secunia or F-Secure or even the demonstrations by Ellrich and Johnny Cache, instead we need to assess the problem as best we can.

I would say that you probably shouldn't be installing .dmgs while you're doing important work that hasn't been saved, that's just asking for trouble.

Had the limited pre-ordered and picked it up today. Kinda regret not getting the legendary edition.

Seeing pics of the halo reach console are getting me jealous lol. I'm a halo nut, I might just end up buying it. That's if it's still available and not sold out that is.

I hear a chair screaming for help.

They don't make chairs like that anymore.

I wonder if it has wheels on it??

Probably ruts in the floor tile, to and from the fridge.

The trick is to go early for dinner.

If it's too lined up, Fionn McCool's next door is fun.

McCool's was always equally as packed (though not quite the lineup) as Bier Garden. We'll try going early for dinner, but I heard the food wasn't all that great. For me, it would be a nice dinner at The Boiler House in the distillery, then a few pints at The Bier Garden. It's too bad the weather's getting colder!

    hubba hubba. i guess? hahaha

3 month supply set me back $70 with copay. $370 with no insurance!! Boys are lucky.

LOL. Is that attached picture for me? I'm actually stumped. Looks like estrogen or progesterone, but I'm not sure which. Also it's in its enol form? God, orgo was so long ago. Please correct me if I'm wrong. You're the one who should know all these structures. I'm the idiot who just studies what they do. :p

I am excited to hear that the CPUs released in January will finally be making it to a Mac in May. I totally understand the delay. It doesn't make much sense to anyone but Intel to release mid range chips months before the high end ones so Apple has little choice but to hold back the iMac lest it hurt sales of Mac Pros and MacBook Pros.

I'm not excited by the idea that the iMacs may continue to ship with 16:9 mirrors. Apple is a premium brand, the least they could do is offer true anti-reflective glass (not the fuzzy matte finish that used to adorn displays).

I'm not sure there's anything we can do about the 16:9 issue. The entire LCD industry seems determined to give us screens optimized for entertainment rather than information gathering or document production. Maybe what we really need is a display that can rotate 90 and still look good. Then I could stick a pair of 9:16's side by side.

Gizmodo reports (http://gizmodo.com/5370493/apple-genius-bar-iphones-30-call-drop-is-normal-in-new-york) that one of its readers recently visited the Genius Bar at the SoHo Apple retail store (http://www.apple.com/retail/soho/) in New York City complaining that 30% of his attempted calls were being dropped, and was informed after testing that such performance was considered normal by AT&T's standards for the area. The reader provided Gizmodo with a copy of the Genius Bar work authorization form noting the technician's assessment of the situation.Issue Description: dropped calls, poor signal
Steps to Reproduce: plugged into behavior scan, report concludes that phone has dropped over 22 percent of the phone calls made. customer states that the percentage is a bit higher but does not register to the phone due to the fact that when a call begins to fail he manually disconnects the call.
    Issue Verified: Yes
Proposed Resolution: this is a basic trouble shooting case so that the customer may report back to ATT to show that the phone is fully functional and the problem is consistent with the service provided by ATTAT&T has acknowledged that it has struggled with service performance in areas of high iPhone density such as the New York City and San Francisco Bay areas, and has recently taken steps (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/09/02/atandt-announces-850-mhz-3g-coverage-improvements-in-new-york-city-and-other-markets/) to enhance 3G service in those and other markets.

    As expected.

Yep. As an added bonus, LTE networks might actually be available in more than select locations sometime around launch. They're not missing much this year.

Not sure I understand, I've had 4G on my Evo for over a year now...

    Hrm....

The "4G" on your Evo is WiMax, a completely different standard being pushed by Clearwire and supported by Sprint. It allowed Sprint to get a "4G" network up and running fairly quickly, but it's likely to be dead-ended with the proliferation of LTE and/or Clearwire blowing through its venture capital. Sprint's CEO has already said they'd be open to switching over to LTE in the future, which they really should do or end up being left behind in a similar way to their CDMA situation (except without Verizon to back them up).
